Cell Phones In Pockets Causing “DNA-Damaged” Sperm

New studies show cell phones seem to damage mens’ sperm when carried in pockets. Is it time for man purses? Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian, hosts of The Young Turks, break it down. Tell us what you think in the comment section below. http://tytnetwork.com/join

“Stuffing your phone into your pants pocket is a convenient go-to, but for men it could have dire consequences, according to research.

A new study warns that men in particular need to think twice about where they are keeping their mobile device.

A review of 21 research papers on radiation shows mobile phones kept close to a man’s genitals for an extended period of time decreases sperm count.

The studies also suggest surviving sperm could be DNA-damaged.

The findings have baffled scientists who have no way to explain how non-ionizing radiation influences the body.

Without that common connection many public health investigators are not confident to say definitively that cellphones harm sperm.

But a new study, by a team at Australia’s University of Newcastle, has collected years of evidence in a bid to identify the trend and find potential causes.”*

  1. Thomas Bale says:

It's not possible for radiation from cell phones to damage DNA the photons are too big; however, photons = heat and sperm production requires exact temperature control so reduction in sperm count is a thing.

  2. Arnau Villoslada says:

Do you realize that the only proved radiation that's harmful is the one from the sun?
    Don't report on bullshit please.

Radio frequency radiation's energy is just too low to break chemical bonds in DNA.

  3. Telly Vin-a says:

are they sure that the guys in this study weren't just super heavy masturbaters?

  4. Dave B says:

I didn't find any science in that paper. Looking at the results of papers doesn't mean peer review; Further more it mentions "The Daily Mail" as its source which I think is a junk UK tabloid. Junk science. I'm surprised this is on TYT.

  5. Brent Allison says:

yeah… because non-ionized radiation can TOTALLY damage dna… junk science

  6. wraxtiorre says:

Butt cancer… Butt cancer is on the way!

  7. gr8z0mbiejesus says:

    Best. News. Ever.

  8. ChubbyMower says:

I wonder if wearing plastic backed diapers helps with it if it's in my front jeans pocket .

  9. Carl Sagan says:

This is shit science, cell phone radiation can't damage DNA because it is really low energy radiation. It's like saying don't point a flash light at your balls.

  10. egonkirchof says:

If cell phones can damage your sperm…maybe they can give you cancer too…

  11. Desecration says:

So BlueTooth causes blueballs. Who'd thunk it?

  12. Scott Humphreys says:

    Autism. There you go.

  13. bandrukesucks says:

I wish this study worked on Trump. I'm sure Cenk does.

  14. Bob Fergisoon says:

    …especially, if it's Samsung Note 7 phone, I can't stress that enough.

  15. Benjamin Hughes says:

So, how should men carry their cell phones on them? Man-purse?

  16. himura kenshiro says:

or you know… you could get a phone case whit anti radiation protection

  17. Connor Ostrow says:

When is TYT going to start using primary sources?

  18. CerBoris says:

New Super Hero from Marvel, DNA was changed in the testicles and gave him/her the powers of a mobile device. Lets call him iHero, able to access e-mail at any time and to even call cell phones during peak periods, surf the net from anywhere(as long as he has mobile service). He could even have the apple logo on his chest.

  19. marko2118 says:

This is why doing REAL research would help. This is a load of crap.
